What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash extensions are carefully selected synthetic lashes attached individually to your natural eyelashes. They are applied one at a time using pharmaceutical grade adhesive. These synthetic lashes add length, volume, curl, and dimension to each individual lash. Eyelash extensions can be bold, they can be glamorous, they can be attractive and natural, but for sure, they can be fun!
Will my natural lashes get harmed or damaged?
No, they do not. If applied correctly and properly, they are safe and do not ruin the health of your natural lashes. As a certified Xtreme Lashes® lash artist, I carefully follow their procedures, as well as only using their products. Xtreme Lashes® is considered top of the line on eyelash extensions products in the market.
How long does it take?
Extensions are applied one by one to your natural eyelashes for the most beautiful results, and the process takes about 120 minutes to complete for a full set and 60 minutes for touch ups. So come ready to relax.
How long do they last?
Your eyelash extensions can last anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks before completely falling out. It has to do with how well you take care of them and the rate that your natural eyelashes fall out. If you want to keep them for a really long time, make sure you are very gentle when washing your face and drying them, and avoid using oil-based products on your eyes!
How often do I get touch ups?
Depending on your after-care and shedding cycle of your natural lashes, touch-ups are typically needed once every 2 to 4 weeks to maintain a full look.
What do I need to do before my appointment?
Remove all make-up and oils from eye area and eyelashes, including eyeliner, eye shadow, eye creams, eye serums and foundation for longer lasting lashes.
How about the aftercare?
Keep water away from your lashes for the first 24 hours after application. Water, moisture, steam and excessive heat can weaken the adhesive before it is set and can cause extensions to fall off. Oil-based products or makeup removers around the eye area are not recommended. Make sure not to rub your eyes, tug or pull on the extensions because this can cause lash loss and even damage to your natural lashes. Avoid using water-proof mascara and mechanical eyelash curlers.
What is a Lash Lift?
It's a technique designed to give you longer-looking lashes without the need for lash extensions. It will look as if you used a really good eyelash curler having a lasting curl for 6 to 8 weeks! In addition to that, I'll apply a black lash tint which really makes your lashes look more prominent. The procedure takes about 45 to 60 mins to complete. It really is an easy way to instantly brighten and open up the eye area!
How do I need to prep for the treatment?
PLEASE ARRIVE TO YOUR APPOINTMENT COMPLETELY FREE OF EYE MAKE UP! Also, you must stop usage of waterproof mascara at least 2 days prior to your Lift! If you wear contacts, they must be removed.
What are the post treatment instructions?
Don't get your lashes wet or apply anything at all to them for 24 hours and sleep on your back the first night. Brush out the lashes daily.
Is there any maintenance?
None at all! You don't have to do anything special with your lashes in between lifts other than brushing them daily.
Can I still wear mascara?
Of course! You'll just achieve a more dramatic effect when mascara is applied to your curled lashes.
Why do I have to stop wearing waterproof mascara 2 days before?
This chemical composition in the waterproof mascaras is extremely drying to your lashes. If you are a regular waterproof mascara user, your lashes might be dehydrated and weakened, which will result in a poor Lift.
Will this damage my eyelashes?
No, if you follow all the advice on Pre and Post care. The lifting solutions are only applied to the new growth area of the lashes, down towards the base and up a bit. Never to the ends of the lashes.
Is it painful?
No. At first, when I'm applying the shields to the eyelids, it may feel a bit strange. But, for the most part, it's very relaxing! You just layback and relax :)
I use Latisse®. Can I get this treatment?
Yes. Some of the most dramatic results I've achieved have been from those using Latisse® because their lashes are already so long.
I have downward-pointing lashes, will this be a good treatment for me?
Yes! Anyone with these types of pesky lashes will love the lash lift! Your lashes will all be evenly dispersed and lifted.
How long does the effect last?
Depending on the length and quality of your natural lashes, the lift can last for 6 to 8 weeks.
I have very very short lashes. Am I able to still do this procedure?
Most of the time, yes. Though it can be challenging if the lashes aren't even long enough to bring up and back on to the shield. But I say, give it a shot once and see how you do!
Who is this procedure NOT good for?
Chronic dry eye, conjunctivitis, damaged lashes or lashes with gaps (this treatment may make the gaps more noticeable), active eye infections of any kind, trichotillomania (habitual pulling out of lashes), recent chemo treatments (you will need to wait at least a year from your last treatment. When in doubt, always consult with your physician.)
